Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student completed English, reading, and science sections for today. She scored a 26 on English, 28 on reading, and 25 on science. If we average the scores from the last two or three times she has taken each section (her scores from the past ten days), she comes out to: English - 26 Math - 28 Reading - 29 Science - 27 These average scores would result in a composite score of 27 or 28. Because she started our sessions scoring practice sections at the level that she achieved on her last actual test, she has the ability to replicate this on test day. I wish her the best."
"Many of the mathematical concepts we are covering are new to the student. He did a few of the problems that had been assigned for homework, then moved on to practice test. Covered 6 or 7 problems. He usually knew how to begin each problem. He is making progress!"
"Today, the student and I first discussed the technique I had asked him to try in order to improve his reading speed. He told me he felt it had really helped him read at the pace required by the test. After reviewing some general strategies for approaching reading comprehension questions, I suggested he use a different approach than he had been so far. Up to this point, he had been carefully reading through the passage, then attempting the questions one at a time. I asked him to try reading over the questions first, then skimming the passage, keeping an eye out for information that would be helpful in answering them. Using this method, he was able to improve not only his completion speed but also his accuracy, and I recommended he use this technique on the test. We spent the remainder of the session briefly reviewing tactics for the English, math, and science sections and discussing how to approach writing the essay."
