Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our first session. We went over questions from the student's online problem set. She had questions on a couple of the problems. We focused on questions that introduce how to get the derivative. By the end of the session, she understood how to do the questions and why she got them wrong. Overall this session went well."
"The pupil and I reviewed the last quarter of the practice exam and then worked on problems. I sent him home with an exam that I created to test him in a timed situation."
"We've covered the binomial theorem and the trigonometry form of complex numbers. We'll start reviewing in the following few sessions."
"The student and I reviewed for a quiz tomorrow, and I think he has made some really good progress on understanding the angle formulas. We went over the review sheet and I gave him some extra quiz like problems. I had copies of all his recent homework to go over with him, too, and that helped me to know what to help him with most."
"Today, the student and I worked on parametric equations, converting rectangular coordinates to polar coordinates, converting polar coordinates to rectangular coordinates, finding alternative polar coordinates to a given polar coordinate, finding the polar equation to a rectangular equation, and finding the rectangular equation from a polar equation"
"This session continued our work with matrices, in particular working on how to solve a system of equations by using Gaussian elimination, Gauss-Jordan elimination, or the inverse of a matrix. We focused especially on identifying which row operations to use and some techniques to make the computations simpler. We also briefly discussed how to use a matrix to identify when a system of equations is inconsistent or has infinitely many solutions. We ended the session working with calculating the determinant of a 3x3 matrix. The student seemed to have greatly benefited from the session, having a much easier time working with matrices after going through several sample problems than she was at the beginning of the session."
