Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I worked on vocabulary from the post office, the hairdresser, and the theater and movies. We also had a discussion about literature - Shakespeare, poems, etc."
"We reviewed regular verb conjugation. Went over when to use ser vs. estar. I left him with some adjectives to review that are typically used with estar."
"We reviewed online quizzes from the Spanish 1 book used by the student's high school to check and improve upon vocabulary and verb conjugation skills; and did additional vocabulary and verb conjugation practice through a worksheet I created. Specifically, we focused on two tenses: the present and the preterite. The student was pretty familiar with both, and only got slightly confused by the spelling of some conjugated verbs. This time around there were many more words she did not recognize, so we added them to our ongoing vocabulary list. She chose 15 words from the list, which I will quiz her on next time. Overall, the student seems to be learning very quickly. She said she practiced the vocab from last session and felt comfortable with nearly all terms in just two days! Her commitment to learning the language is definitely apparent. One thing we will start to work on more for next session is speaking since her Spanish 2 class will be conducted primarily in Spanish."
