Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started the second half of his online course by going through the chapter vocabulary, creating vocab flash cards, studying the goals for the chapter (previewing the assignment), and then by doing an exercise with ser vs. estar. We even had some time to do his chemistry homework and check for understanding."
"For a warm-up, the student completed worksheet of present and past verbs she learned in the last three sessions without assistance. She was able to complete worksheet with minimal assistance and was able to recall information without looking at notes. We reviewed the face vocabulary with a worksheet. Student was able to complete 70% of the worksheet without notes. Taught how to introduce oneself and share a short biography about oneself including: name, origin, age, family (children, siblings, married or single), occupation and hobbies. Taught to ask each portion of biography using the formal and informal "you" form. Reviewed alphabet, only mispronounced five letters and did not use the phonetic sounds for help. Homework is to write a conversation asking biography questions in the formal and informal "you" form."
"The student and I worked on several listening exercises for learning letters and numbers in Spanish. We also worked on several writing and reading exercises with adjectives. We discussed how spending more time practicing vocabulary will be helpful in future lessons."
"The student and I reviewed vacation vocabulary and completed a homework assignment using strategies for fill-in-the blank reading passages. We then worked ahead on the present progressive tense and conjugating those verbs and practiced more writing of Spanish and focused on accents and subject/verb agreement."
"We covered lesson 1 from chapter 1 of his Spanish book. The now feels comfortable with the materials in this section of the book, and showed good progress in his overall understanding of basic conversations (i.e. greetings and commands) and Spanish speaking countries."
"Today, the student and I worked on infinitives in the active and middle/passive voices, liquid verbs, lengthening of vowels internally in some verbs, conjugation of verbs, and declension of nouns. We also did a review of grammatical cases and their functions in the koine' (common) Greek sentence. We covered chapter 15 and answered all her questions. We are focusing on indicators in stems, suffixes, and accents which are clues to parsing Greek verbs."
