Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"He had a good handle on long division of polynomials. I therefore worked through several of these problems with him and then assigned this work. We also worked on synthetic division, which he quickly grasped. We applied the remainder theorem as well, which he understood. I assigned a set of synthetic division problems, too."
"Today we worked on polynomials and rational functions, which is part of the review that the student has to do for her final grade. We did some synthetic and long polynomial division to find all the zeros of a polynomial and worked on finding the zeros, asymptotes, and other features of rational functions."
"We covered graphs of polynomials and how to determine horizontal/vertical/oblique asymptotes. As we were going through the student's homework, she needed help initially but quickly picked it up after a few practice problems."
"Today we worked on equations of a line; rewriting equations with transformations; limit of rational equations when x approaches a number, zero or infinity; and polynomial division. The student grasps the information very well and can work out problems easily after reviewing."
"The student and I continued our review of matrix algebra and polar coordinates. We covered matrix addition and multiplication as well as manipulating an identity. We also discussed how to find the determinant and its uses with matrices. We then worked on finding the inverses of matrices. We ended with a brief review of polar coordinates. The student has two examinations coming up this next week, and as such, we will meet 3 times next week to continue preparation."
"We evaluated how to solve limits explicitly, creating a table of values to evaluate solving limits from two different directions, factoring fractions to find the value of a limit, finding limits as they approach 0 or infinity, multiplying by the conjugate to evaluate limits, trig limits, and interpreting graphs of limits."
