Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I started working on the second unit in her statistics course. This unit covers probability and related topics, including sampling methods, z-tests, t-tests, and distribution. Today I helped the student review how to conceptualize and compute basic probability and why probability is significant for the behavioral sciences. The first assignment in Unit 2 asked students to consider the sample in a hypothetical study and to extrapolate the data to the population in consideration. I helped the student understand the questions being asked and draft a response to post on the discussion board."
"We reviewed normal curves, standard deviations, averages and Z-scores (from her homework), in preparation for next week's quiz. We also reviewed the ACT Math test and worked through several problems in her practice test book. We talked about taking non-timed ACT tests for the next couple weeks, beginning timed practice on sections later, and completing full-length timed ACT tests a couple times in the weeks just prior to the test date."
"The student and I reviewed a variety of topics for her upcoming tests, and will continue to do so when we meet next. I'm definitely seeing improvement, and look forward to meeting her again later this week to see more progress."
"The student and I corrected some mistakes on the homework we did last. We also went through some additional exercises in her book. Most of these problems dealt with scores and probability distributions."
"The student and I went over the review packet that covers the material which will be on her statistics exam tomorrow. She seemed much more comfortable with standard deviation and variance, and the various forms of sampling methods. We also solidified her understanding of class width and relative frequency. I asked that she let me know how her test goes, and we will schedule the next session once the new material is presented in class."
"We reviewed concepts related to the interpretation of the normal distribution. We also reviewed some problems using SPSS and went over how to interpret the output from SPSS. The student primarily had issues with the interpretation of data and when to apply particular formulas. I suggested that the student review previous assignments. It was a good session."
