Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this session, the student and I went through topics to get ready for his test on Friday involving medians and altitudes within triangles. We went through problems utilizing mathematical terminology and theory. We reviewed terms (median, concurrency, bisect, altitude, perpendicular, etc.). The session went well and we got through all topics."
"The student and I began studying for her final. We went over chapter 4 and a large portion of chapter 3. In addition to practicing calculations, we reviewed vocabulary and congruence theorems. She did a great job!!"
"The student and reviewed and worked on a chapter review packet over similarity. We used proportions, ratios, similar polygons/triangles, AAA, SAS, and AAS similarity, angle bisector theorem, parallel lines and proportionality."
"The student and I went over her review for the exam she has coming up. The review involved congruent triangles, and proofs. We went over all the ways you can prove triangles congruent and how to name them properly. Then we went over the proper way to complete a proof, writing out the statement claimed, and the reason the statement holds true. She is a very fast learner, and even when presented with problems of higher difficulty, she can still apply the concepts well and follow a process."
"The student has a makeup test on Thursday over trigonometric ratios and 30-60-90/45-45-90 triangles so our focus was on preparing her for that. We had covered this material before, but as is common with students, she needed a bit of a refresher. We worked through several problems and drafted a simple study guide that should prepare her well for the exam. After that, we briefly covered how best to study for the exam and how to try to stay better organized. Since her teacher gives a lot of handouts for notes, I mentioned that she should get a triple ring binder and hole puncher. A little organization can go a long way!"
"The student and I worked on chapter 7 section 1 over similarity and ratios. I also went over with him how to cross-multiply in order to solve for variables such as y and x. I challenged him to continue reviewing formulas and to write out post-its of key information as we move along throughout our sessions."
