Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered a few different topics today. First we did part of a six-point trig problem. Then we went over the vocabulary for the chapter on cause of death in forensics. We spent the rest of the session working on lesson 9 in the vocabulary workbook."
"We spent this class proofreading and editing the first draft of the student's paper on The Hunger Games. We went over standard proofreading marks, then read through her paper to correct any technical mistakes. I introduced framing quotations and had her work to lead in or out of three of the six quotations that she used in the essay. She came up with a great variety of frames. We ended the session by looking more closely at her conclusion and adding some information that made her essay end on the same note as the book. For homework, she will write a second draft for us to review on Wednesday."
"Student #1 and I are still going through our parts of speech. We worked on verb phrases and adverbs today. Student #2 and I worked through several chapters and talked about our final book project. Student #3 and I continued to work through the algebra 1 review packet. We covered algebraic fractions and radicals. All three ladies did a great job!"
"Today, the student and I started the outline of a story (including the beginning, middle, and end). We started with a picture from a magazine, where she identified as many verbs that are present in the picture, as she could. I then introduced new ones, as well as a couple of adjectives. We agreed to continue working on it next time."
"The student's final exam is scheduled for Tuesday, therefore during this tutoring session, I assisted her with preparing for the exam. Among the topics we covered were the parts of speech, parts of a sentence, types of sentences, and figurative language. I must say, that I am very pleased with the progress she has made this semester!"
"We went over his college entrance essays. The student was quick to pick up the process of revision and we cruised through the material without any problems."
