Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on a variety of problems involving solving for volumes, lateral surface area, and total surface area. These included triangular prisms, the volumes of the material in hollow tubes, volumes of the material in bricks with empty spaces inside, surface area of a cone, etc."
"Today, the student and I continued reviewing for his final exam that he has on Tuesday. We went over problems from a review sheet given to him by his instructor. We practiced finding domain and range of a linear transformation, finding the nullspace and column space of a matrix, finding the orthogonal complements for the row space and column space of a matrix, finding eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a matrix, determining if a matrix is diagonalizable, determining when a matrix is invertible, and checking if vectors are orthonormal. He definitely seemed very comfortable with all of the different concepts, and he seems to have a solid understanding of the material that will be on his exam. Since he takes the exam Tuesday, we are done meeting for the time being. However, I encouraged him to reach out to me if he needs help in any future math classes."
"The student and I went over her take home test, which was a review of everything she has learned this year. Most of the problems were trigonometry problems, which she did a great job on. There were some problems she was confused with, but she understood them after we went over it together. She didn't have any questions by the end of the session and was very prepared for her final exam."
"During this session with we worked on his review packet. We went over the first few types of problems in the packet. The student's final will be rather long so we focused on ways to reduce time on each problem. He than made flash cards to help him review for each type of problem."
"We spent the first part of the session focusing on review for the exam. The student had been working on a packet of problems, so we went over the specific problems that she had previously had trouble with. Once I explained the concept causing confusion, she quickly caught on and readily solved the problem. The rest of the session was spent working on several packets of problems. Again, she knew much of the material already, and she was a very fast learner with any newer concepts."
"Today we finished a practice quiz together, and we worked on eliminating answer choices that could not possibly be the answer. We were successful in finishing the quiz, which was quite long. This second session was as successful as the first session."
