Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We moved from kinematics to Newton's laws, and started looking at free body diagrams and finding the components of forces."
"We covered Kirchhoff's laws regarding current, force in a magnetic field, and calculating the magnetic field."
"The student and I reviewed the solutions from his last test on chapters 1-4. We then worked on homework problems from chapter 5 and 6 on force, work, power, centripetal force, and torque."
"We covered springs, pendulums, and waves. The student just had his second day of class but wanted another tutoring session. He actually has grown a lot since we started tutoring; he has built an intuition for selecting his equations when problem solving. He had an attentive and open attitude as always. We started the problems in the book, anticipating the assignment to come. He got an 83 on his semester final, which is what we worked toward in the previous sessions. His mother is very proud of him because if he got a B on his final, his teacher said he would move his C to a B for his final grade."
"The student was preparing for an exam on work and energy, and we talked principally about their relationship to each other and how to calculate work in given situations using either force and displacement, or change in kinetic energy (based on what was given). We also covered conservation of mechanical energy, and what it means for given motions where only conservative forces act."
"Today's session covered new topic on electrostatics. This is a much more fluid topic for the student considering that he had some difficulties with the last topic. We have started this new topic on the right foot. The teacher has shifted to assigning more textbook questions. The exam seems to be coming up soon and we will prepare for it way ahead of time."
