"Today we started with going over questions her instructor had given her in a quiz today. Two of them were word problems, where you had to set up a set of equations and solve for two variables. She had a little bit of difficulty setting up the equations, but she was able to solve them very easily once it was set up. We then went over problems where we had to solve for x in a complex expression, and I told her to start getting in the habit of moving parts of the equation to the other side in her head, especially when it comes to adding or subtracting."
"During today's session I reviewed the student's previous homework so she could understand how to correctly complete the problems. We then moved to her most recent homework assignment and completed it together."

"Today we did the review test for the 3rd module in the student's online class. This covered solving quadratic equations and their graphs. She did the best with using the quadratic formula and simple factoring, and needed more help with the concept of completing the square and understanding the concept of simplifying radicals. Ultimately she got a perfect score on the review test. Tomorrow we will work on stats and do some ACT work."

"Today we worked on quadratic equations  factoring, completing the square, and using the quadratic formula to solve. We also talked about graphing  finding axis of symmetry, vertex, and knowing whether the parabola opens up or opens down. The student did well with solving a quadratic by graphing. She also did well with finding roots by taking a square root. Factoring and completing the square seemed to be the most challenging parts. She did pretty well with using the quadratic formula  and tends to not make little mistakes when substituting in numbers for variables."
"Tonight we met for an hour and a half. We began by figuring out where she was struggling with the previous chapter and figuring out why the solutions were the way that they were. I continued to remind her that it's not enough to have the right answer but rather to know WHY the answer was right or wrong. We did so by going over her Chapter 2 exam. We then began her Hw for 3.6, and I noticed that she was struggling with fractions so I spent ~30 going over various fraction problems and conversions so that she could nail her basics before transitioning to more complex math. After our fractions segue, we worked through her Hw by doing problems that she wasn't assigned so that she could know how to do them rather than have me give her solutions. I left her with the rest of her Hw to complete on her own. I left with no concerns, and she said that she felt comfortable with her current material."
