"I started tutoring when I was in high school, and have tutored consistently ever since. I relish the opportunity to inspire my tutees, and enjoy getting to know each one for his/her strengths and potential. After my junior year at Harvard, I spent an intensive summer tutoring high school students who were taking classes at the Harvard Summer School. I loved watching these motivated students make both academic and personal strides.
After graduating, I taught chemistry at Westminster, a boarding school in Connecticut."

" One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is the knowing that not only can I help my students, but my students help me. I learn from my students each day and I think that has helped me to become a better teacher.
I enjoy all of the subjects I teach, it’s hard for me to choose one as my favorite. Math is all around us and I feel it’s important for my students to be aware of that – it doesn’t just happen in a textbook. I want my students to be able to relate math to their lives."

" This is a skill that every child will be using from their first day of school to their last day in the workforce. As a logically-minded graduate of Georgetown University, I love to see the bright smile of a student who has just realized that he or she has the skills to complete a problem. To me, it is very important for a tutor to work with the student until the student can complete every problem on their own. This is my tutoring philosophy and I have applied it successfully for over a year of private tutoring."

"I am committed to making a mark that cannot be erased, locally and globally. Math is not about memorizing rules and procedures, its actual logic built into our everyday lives... from the arch of a bridge to the coordinates of the street to the mass transit system... without mathematics none of the above would be possible."

" My many years of tutoring experience is the reason I pursued a Master's degree in Education and became certified to teach in New York for grades 5 through 12. I have learned as much from each of my students (aged 10 through 20) as they have from me. The one-to-one sessions enable me to assess the learning style, strengths and weaknesses of each student which affords the opportunity to tailor the lesson to his/her needs and abilities. My teaching style is both nurturing and challenging; I expect my students to set high standards for themselves while offering encouragement and support along the way." ...

" In those terms teaching is processes of engaging students and empowering them to pursue their own learning. To accomplish this a tutor has to wear many hats; that of a mentor, a cheerleader, an expert, and others. Many times in the physical sciences class can seem like an extension of math, an endless list of numbers of formula that are just given as absolutes . The truth is that being able to solve problems is much less important than understanding the underlying concepts present. Having an understanding of these concepts will make the mathematical work that is involved much easier." ...

"I am a graduate of Barnard College, where I majored in Italian literature and took a wide variety of courses in other areas, from the history of Russian art to calculus and astronomy. I became fluent in Italian over the course of my junior year as an exchange student in Rome, and since graduation, I've gone back to Italy multiple times for work. I have also lived in Istanbul, where I taught English as a foreign language and discovered my love for teaching. I try to set specific goals with my students, and to work in a focused way toward these goals." ...

"My experiences have been uniformly positive and I've found that any student, no matter their previous experience or abilities, is eager to learn and to do well. I believe that it is the role of the teacher to harness these natural energies and put them to good use by making the material more relatable to the student and their own interests. This will only be accomplished if the teacher is both patient and understanding. Besides my interest in math and science my other interests include Latin, French, computer programming, basketball, and Go.." ...
