Tutoring review by Catherine in Edwardsville, MO
Today we prepared for the student's math final which is next Tuesday and we worked the whole session on conic sections. We worked on determining what kind of conics are represented by what kind of equations, and then worked on finding the standard equations of circles, ellipses, and parabolas given certain information, and finding certain information (vertices, co vertices, center, foci) given equations. By the end, the student seemed to be understanding everything and doing really well with practice problems covering all of these topics. Tomorrow morning, we are going to practice some more and also do some harder, more complex examples in case they are on his final.

Tutoring review by Saibu in Edwardsville, MO
In this session with the student, we prepared for the statistics test she has on Thursday. It covered the concepts of mean, mode, median, range, variance, and standard deviation. After brushing up on the basic concepts of average, we tackled the more challenging topics - variance and standard deviation. For each of the concepts, the student did problems to get familiar with them. I also went over the significance of each concept and why we find them. As always, I left her with detailed notes and done problems. Nonetheless, I shared my tips and tricks to excel in statistics tests. Test taking skills are a big part or such tests, and if she follows the ones I have shared with her, she should do very well in statistics.

Tutoring review by Tiani in Edwardsville, MO
We covered the 4 main macromolecules: proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids, as well as parts of the cell. The student was not struggling with anything in particular, but wanted to review the newer vocabulary terms and double-check her understanding. She was very appreciative of the help. We discussed how to study her notes a little bit everyday and use the textbook or tutor to help fill in the gaps. She has a quiz on Monday and a test on Wednesday, which will be used as indicators of her progress with tutoring. She seems to be doing well in staying on top of the material.

Tutoring review by Mohamed in Edwardsville, MO
We worked on different concepts including solving algebraic equations by graphing, elimination and substitution. The student needed help with graphing. He was full of energy and he was willing to learn the material. I recommended the student to do many practice problems. He got an improved score after the first session. He will be taking exam this week and he felt ready for it. The session was a win session because the student felt he got something out of it.
