"We went over a review assignment in which we were expected to build a working seat distribution client for some abstract auditorium arranged in a matrix. This involved setting up a runner that performed static operations via public methods on a private, static matrix of seat prices which existed privately in a static class. We practiced concepts of looping through matrices, checking the contains, testing equality using == and .equals(), and modifying static variables after information retrieval. The student used == when he needed .equals() a couple times and he wasn't quite confident on whether he needed a constructor or not, but other than that, he did great. I'm seeing serious improvements; one major recommendation I have is to believe you can do it! Seriously! I think sometimes the student lets himself worry about things he already understands perfectly well. I recommend that the student try to find the confidence to make his own design decisions whenever his lab doesn't mandate some specific requirement. :)"
"We worked on the data visualization in Processing. We also got some text animation and mouseover animations in place."
"We reviewed the different database design techniques with a focus on the favorite one, the entity-relationship model. This chapter requires lots of concept memorization. Therefore, after explaining the different concepts and techniques we focused on the memorization tools and strategies. All the assessments showed he knew his subject well. He should be fine at the final exam."
