Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I did more work with the equation of the line. We did an assortment of problems involving graphing and finding the equation of the line given different bits of information. We continued to practice concepts that he learned in prior chapters to ensure that he did not forget them."
"I went over a practice exam with the student and gave her 20 practice questions. As the practice exam covers everything I will mainly give her questions that test her on all topics versus individual topics. Next we will focus on order of operations questions and I will assign her homework accordingly. Thank you!"
"We went over the student's school-assigned homework which covered 1-D graphing of inequalities on a number line. He seemed to really grasp this concept and was confident in his knowledge. A few times he slipped up on differentiating between < and > but did seem to understand it as we talked it out. We also went over the homework I had left with him from last week's session which reviewed squaring and taking the square root. I left him with a few problems for homework to re-emphasize this concept."
"The student and I did the practice test from chapter six for review during the session. This chapter covered linear inequalities and the student did fairly well with most aspects. Since she needed reminders and made a couple mistakes we spent a good amount of time just doing problems until it was second nature again. Otherwise, the student did very well and seemed to have no difficulties conceptually."
"The student and I covered a review for her final exam. While she remembered information about triangles and other subjects, she had some trouble remembering details of chapter 11, which dealt with combining concepts of the LCD, factoring and distributing numbers. We will review these subjects again briefly tomorrow after focusing on chapter 12."
"The student and I reviewed problems from previous tests he took as preparation for his upcoming final. We reviewed solving systems of equations, factoring, inequalities, proportionality, percentages, word problems, the Pythagorean theorem, and geometry relating to circles, angle, and triangles. He is doing really well and I believe he is well prepared for his final exam. He just needs to be careful with negative signs and their distribution, and needs to slow down and check over his work. It's really important that he gets a calculator before his final!"
