Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on biology this session. We worked on strategies for finding answers in text and how to interpret diagrams. He spent the remainder of the session working on a health class project, specifically relating to reproductive diseases. I helped him organize the layout of his PowerPoint and identify reliable sources to get his information from. Overall, he will need to continue to develop his reading and writing skills over the summer to prepare for the transfer to his new school."
"The student and I went over practice algebra problems involving solving two-step algebraic equations. By the end of the session, he was able to solve the problems correctly. I also advised him that he should try some problems by himself for extra practice during the week."
"The student and I reviewed for an upcoming test covering radical expression, solving radical functions, solving for sides/ angles using trigonometric ratios, sine, cosine, tangent, distance formula, and angle of elevation and depression."
"The student has two upcoming finals in social studies and science. Social studies is first, so we focused on that exam this evening. She is behind and had a long study guide to complete. I helped her complete as much of the study guide as we could in the time we had. She needs to really review this study guide before the test. I focused on making a thorough guide for her, but she will need to review it on her own time as well."
"The student and I practiced using the FOIL method and went over how to complete the square to factor a trinomial. We then practiced completing the square to put the equation into standard circle form, and finding the center and the radius. She completed her math homework for the night and worked through some of her geometry final review as well. I suggested that she make flashcards to memorize the formulas for finding the surface area of more complex shapes, as well as the standard form equations. She had a great attitude and was a fast learner."
"In addition to continuing our math practice, this morning the student and I reviewed properties of logarithms and sequences, and went back over the six trig functions. We will continue our practice and review next week."
