"Today I met with the student and we started to work on arithmetic sequences. We started with defining sequences and series and how they differ in terms of mathematics. Then we started working on arithmetic sequences by defining what they are and what they would look like. We worked on how to figure out the common difference of an arithmetic sequence, and how to derive the general form of the nth term of a given sequence. We also worked on how to find the partial sum of a arithmetic sequence. At the end of the session, I got a chance to show him how to derive the formula for the partial sum. It was like a "mind blown" moment for him and the whole formula actually makes sense to him afterwards!"

"Practiced solving basic polynomial equations by either factoring or using the Rational Root Theorem, which requires taking the factors of the constant and dividing by the factors of the highest power term. Also used synthetic division and long division of polynomials to factor polynomials and solve equations. Used this information to graph polynomials and find the x and y intercepts."
"The student had a couple of worksheets she wanted to work on for this session. These worksheets were a review of what she has learned so far in class, so they included function composition, inverse functions, min/max, zeroes, etc. She seemed pretty confident in the material after we went over the concept of what she had to do for the problem."
