"I covered the concept of Pinyin, syllable, 6 initials, and 6 finals with the student. The student was very pleasant to work with. We did lots of pronunciation practice."
"The student has learned "Pinyin" from his pre-school, so I quickly went through "Pinyin" with the student and found out that he forgot most of them and pronunciations were not quite correct. For the whole session, I re-taught him pronunciations and told him to memorize them and I will check them on the next session."
"Today we started the next chapter - Chapter 4, which covered how to ask for someone's name and how to introduce one's own name. We began with the vocabulary and I had them to try to recognize the vocabulary by the roots and a few picturesque hints. Next we worked on the sentence structures this chapter introduced us to. It was really easy once we got into it, though it did take a while to remember some of the orders. We went around the table and had some students ask the questions and some answer them. Finally we read the passage and with the sentence structures down, reading was a bit easier for them. We had time and so we went into the vocabulary for chapter 5. We also introduced some new roots and explained a few new particle words. Finally, with the time we had left we briefly went into numbers. I had them practice writing and reading the numbers 1-10 for next time."
