"The student and I began to focus on the question types that will be her greatest challenge--sentence completions in CR and both types in the Writing section. This is to be expected due to growing up and being educated in non-monolingually-English settings, and she has an excellent grasp of the language but will benefit from some extra practice and building of her confidence. She is getting in the habit of making a flashcard for any new or rusty vocab words, math concepts, grammar rules, or test strategies, so that they will be easily organizable and accessible. She is continuing to work through the test prep site's tutorials and practice sets. We also reviewed test stress management; she has quite a strong skill set to manage stress and this should be of great benefit to her going forward."
"The student and I worked on several sections of the SAT. She came to understand how to work every question she had missed previously."
"This was our first meeting. I was first introduced to her mother, and then to the student. After a brief highlight of perceived problem areas and the ways in which she was already addressing some of them, we sat down with her first attempt at the ACT - her second set of results should be arriving within the week. I now have a better idea of what she needs. Generally, I think that what will be of most use to her is an increase in familiarity with basic math principles and terms, and a better sense of when to apply them. I think I did a good job in beginning that process this session, but there is yet some way to go. Next session, we'll be finishing her first ACT test's mathematics portion and moving on to the science portion."
