Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I gave the student a diagnostic exam. She did very well for a seventh grader. We went over the test afterwards and the student absorbed everything very well. She has great Math intuition and a willingness to learn. I can't wait to meet with her again next week."
"The student and I reviewed the essay portion of the test. We practiced brainstorming and outlining in response to prompts and completed one practice essay."
"The student and I worked through an overview of assessing where her strengths and areas for growth lie in taking the SAT as a student educated outside of the US. She is using a test prep book, and has been working through quite a bit of it on her own over the past few months, so we will continue to build on her familiarity with that text when she needs supplemental drills, instruction, and practice. We also got her registered on an online test prep website to gain access to additional strategy tutorials and practice sets. She is great at seeing the whole picture of different problems and questions, but we will be working on helping her quickly break down problems into their component parts in order to maximize time and efficiency in getting through as many problems as possible. We will also be focusing on the strategies of process of elimination/educated guessing and deciding when to skip problems due to the SAT's practice of penalizing incorrect questions. Her homework was to continue getting acquainted with the test prep website, especially the Writing section (her greatest area for growth)."
