Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I worked with the first student on his geometry study guide. We worked on ratios using similar triangles to find side lengths, and went over the Pythagorean theorem, and then we tried a few constructions. I then worked with the second student for the majority of the session on her algebra study guides. She worked on the unit study guide first, which consisted of ways to use data and find frequencies of an event happening based on data. I also taught her what a scatter plot was and what a trend line has to do with it. Next, she worked on her final study guide. There was some order of operations, changing words into equations, finding equations of lines, graphing lines, and factoring. We worked the most on factoring. Finally, I worked with the third student on the same study guide that the first student had. She also needed help with the similar triangles and some little review of the SOH-CAH-TOA, and solving right triangles. I also helped her review some statistics. She learned the very beginning of stats in her AP psych class, so I just helped her understand the notes."
"Today we worked on graph based geometry, reviewing slope, midpoint, and equation of a line formulas. We then practiced problem solving and prepared for the student's test next week."
"Today we did our semester review. We went over converting percents, fractions, and decimals. We also went over ratios, and writing equations from word problems."
"We went over 9 times table tricks. We also covered fractions, including improper and mixed. We did those fractions with paper pizzas and money. We briefly went over multiplication of fractions and reviewed the student's singular and plural homework."
"During this session I worked with the student in improving her skills with fractions. We worked on simplifying fractions and changing improper fractions to a whole number. We also worked on multiplying fractions and then changing the improper fraction to a whole number. By the end of the session she was very successful with these skills. On our next session I will be continuing to review what is taught in class and to pre-teach new skills."
"First I worked with the students on reading and math. They are doing well. I worked with Student 1 on her multiplication tables. Her father and I emphasized the importance of memorizing them."
