Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on word problems in the Student A's homework packet, as well as long division. We also reviewed the material of different worksheets that her teacher had graded. These sheets focused primarily on force and gravity. We then went over ways to study vocabulary words and certain tricks to help her remember the various uses and definitions. We did a mock vocabulary test, and she was comfortable with the definition and word usage. I spent the rest of the session with Student B. We went over a number of different worksheets and concepts that had been graded by his teacher. One of the areas that we focused on a great deal is that of present and past tense verbs. At the beginning, it was difficult for him to differentiate between them, but after review, he felt very confident and ready to move on to the next subject. We discussed shapes in his worksheets (faces, vertices, etc.) and spent the remainder of the session working on two-digit addition and subtraction. He really enjoys addition and subtraction and did very well with the more challenging problems I gave him."
"Review of volume of prisms, spheres, and cylinders. Review of complex numbers and operations with complex numbers. Review of final exam (focus on circle unit)."
"I asked him how his test was, and he responded by saying it was "fine." I will have to take a look at his test after he receives his grade and go over it with him. I created practice problems for him to do regarding solving simultaneous equations, and he solved them with minimal guidance."
"The student and I worked on his extra credit math homework. He was assigned a graphing worksheet. After some initial problems understanding the instructions, he was able to finish the assignment, and raise his grade."
"We covered various sections and chapters including circles/ellipses/parabolas, hyperbolas, and the like. Also included rational expressions, and basically everything covered this year."
"Today we covered polynomial factoring with square roots. I encourage the student to work on remembering the correct methodology to use because when she gets it right, she can easily get the answer. We reviewed two past exams that she didn't do well on, but all in all I think she is doing well, as those were older exams."
