Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"11.7. Reviewed essay writing homework. Focused on body paragraph construction, transitions, synonyms, diction, and sentence flow. Extra practice on attention-getters and concluding paragraphs."
"The student and I started our session by talking about her study plan and strengths and weaknesses. She mentioned feeling strongest in writing and reading and weaker in math and vocabulary. We talked about how she can plan a reasonable study schedule since it is difficult to balance being in school with studying for the SAT. I told her that setting small, reasonable goals is best. For example, setting a goal like, "I am going to do 10 minutes of SAT vocabulary this week and a full hour on the weekend." We decided to focus our first session on math and we began by going over some sample SAT Math problems. The student had good skill and was able to complete a number of the problems independently. She did struggle with some of the multi-step word problems and we discussed how to get started on these by breaking the problem down into smaller steps. She was fairly quick with her calculations and showed good number sense. I think with further practice she will be able to achieve her goal score."
"We went over the sentence completions sections she completed for homework, and the vocab words that she memorized. We then reviewed arithmetics math topics, and completed practice/example questions together."
