Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During the student's second session we focused on teaching him to problem solve and brushing up on his knowledge of kinematics. During our last session, I asked the student to attempt as many problems as he could from the hand-out that I had given him and to circle any problems where he had difficulty or questions. We went over all of the problems he had questions on. This session focused mainly on reviewing his assigned homework and making sure that he had the confidence and the skills to complete it."
"The student and I covered the principles of photosynthesis, including the Calvin cycle and light reactions, in great detail. The student detailed all the redox reactions that occur in the process. We talked a great deal about cell signaling, and he described the various ways signals can get amplified both verbally and through diagrams. We finished up the lesson talking about mitosis, and he did a wonderful job of covering each stage in mitosis and explaining how the process is regulated."
"We actually split this session between the students. For the first forty minutes student A and I worked on Algebra. She has a quiz on types of numbers and on number lines. We wrote a chart together, and she responded well. For the last fifty minutes student B and I worked on dimensional analysis in physics. I showed her how to set up an expectation of units, and how to write the fractions out so the proper units cancel."
