Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on memorizing the first 3 rules she had defined for conjugating in the preterit tense. She also re-wrote her paragraph assignment with the goal of writing a streamlined, eight-sentence paragraph in Spanish, all developing one topic. We wrote about her music in the present and then preterit tenses."
"The student was preparing for an exam on present progressive and reflexive tenses. We reviewed the concepts and worked on exercises. We also reviewed vocabulary (get up vs wake up/ go to bed vs go to sleep, as well as words related to travel). He has a pretty good grasp of the material. He will need to look over the irregular verbs a little more but overall is pretty solid."
"Today, we did a quick review of indirect, direct, and reflexive pronouns. Then, we worked on subjunctive rules and new conjugations by making flashcards and doing online worksheets together. We also went over contractions and other common additional words to help round out the student's writing. We finished with reading dialogs from his textbook and pointing out various grammar tenses, words, etc., for reading comprehension. He has great translating skills."
"Today, we continued to work on the student's understanding of imperfect vs. preterite grammar. We covered numerous different scenarios and examples so that she feels more and more comfortable with speaking, writing, and conjugating various verbs to the correct tense based on the context and situation of the sentence. I assigned a few writing assignments so that she can practice this subject and utilize additional vocabulary. We will go over her writing on Friday."
"As we did last week, the student and I went over the present tense. We went over the conjugations for the present and past perfect, and now present perfect subjunctive. We went over in detail how to tell when to use each respective form of the present, given context and syntax. We also went over her current vocabulary list. She is beginning to show greater interest in Spanish, and hence her skill is improving."
"The session went very well, and the student is doing quite well. All this practice is starting to show great results. We went over irregular past tense. She did two pages of homework and twenty exercises as practice. She was very happy."
