Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student worked on his reading assignments. He worked hard and accomplished almost everything he wanted to complete during our session. The work wasn't too challenging, so he didn't ask many questions and worked most of the time independently."
"The student and I began doing a kindergarten readiness assessment. She is very knowledgeable in the content."
"The student delivered adequate summaries of the chapters he'd read and also completed all the vocabulary word definitions he was assigned. With such a solid foundation, he was able to complete a good deal of writing and editing, as he wrote out sentences for each one of his vocab words to gain a better understanding of how these words were used in common language. We finished with an aloud reading of the book we've been working on, Things Not Seen, which he continues to enjoy. We also did some additional practice with common contractions."
"During the session, we finished chapter 2 of Ramona Quimby, Age 8 and completed comprehension questions after every two paragraphs to ensure she is understanding what she is reading. She did very well today, and her reading pace continues to improve. She still readily completed her work with the Ramona excerpts, and had a positive attitude toward the material."
"I checked that all the student's work was completed and up to date. We discussed the next topics for school and how we wanted to progress today. We agreed to focus on the exam today and then see the new subjects for school. We looked at the math overview and where he said he needed help. I showed him how to access past papers online and use them efficiently to test himself. We went through a paper like this. After his break we looked at English for the exam. He was very competent at the grammar components. However, his comprehension needs further work. We will continue to work on that."
"The student is continuing to write about her favorite holiday, Diwali. She is doing additional research regarding the meaning of the holiday. He completed a verbal assessment. We began a reading assessment, which he will complete for homework."
