Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"With Student 1, we reviewed geometric concepts as applied in algebra class, such as calculating area and volume. With Student 2, we looked at graphing equations, and then previewed upcoming class material such as making algebraic models from word problems."
"We spent some time working on his social studies. We read each section and then stopped to discuss what they section was about, rephrasing the subheading into a guiding question. Lastly, we went through his vocabulary assignment. This week's assignment has a different section requiring the students to use Latin roots. We went through how to properly answer the questions."
"We continued our standardized test preparation. The student did several practice packets covering a wide variety of topics, including percents, ratios, solving equations/inequalities, and some basic geometry. She is doing great!"
"I spent a few hours preparing example problems for the student for topics covered in our last two sessions. Practice sheets included about 10 examples for the following topics: Completing the square, solving quadratic equations by factoring, solving quadratic equations with the quadratic equation, and solving by elimination. I also included the answers worked out in detail on a separate sheet for all topics so she could reference it if she could not figure it out by referencing her notes we'd already done on this topic."
"During this session we did a review of greatest common factors and least common multiples. This session we focused more on words problems for each concept and then how we figured out how to determine which concept we were to use. The student took a short quiz following our session and scored very well on it receiving a 9/10 on the material. She was given a short review homework covering a review of concepts we have previously touched upon as well as the material covered over the last two sessions."
