Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went through a practice test covering algebra and pre-algebra topics. She did very well and said that she felt she had improved greatly."
"I started by checking in on her vocabulary, and she knew this week's words well. I gave her some roots to add into the mix. She did an excellent good utilizing the reading strategies we outlined the past couple weeks to answer the questions about a double passage. We then went over basic algebra concepts and tried a few problems. These skills will continue to be a focus."
"We began the session by reviewing the principles covered by her math homework, which also appear on the SAT Math section of the exam. The student had completed a practice test since last week's session, so we reviewed the questions she got wrong and discussed how she might approach them differently. We did a section of the Reading test together, once again discussing how best to approach each question and how to make an educated guess using process of elimination and reasoning if she wasn't sure of the answer. We ended the session by reviewing vocabulary. Many of the words we have reviewed thus far have appeared on the practice tests, so it is encouraging to see a strong correlation between vocab review and success in the Reading section of the test."
