Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was confident that she did at least ok on her chapter 7 test on Wednesday. The kinesthetic gestures associated with select verbs does appear to have increased her retention, so I hope to utilize that tool more in the future. We delved into chapter 8, first discussing some high frequency irregular verbs in the preterite (ir, ser, and dar) and then previewing combining direct and indirect objects into single sentences. We also briefly touched on preterite stem-changing verbs."
"Today, we continued with some of the textbook exercises incorporating the new vocabulary about technology. The student is getting better at constructing sentences, and his reading comprehension is getting better as well."
"We mainly worked on reviewing the student's vocabulary, and I went ahead and started prepping her for the next sessions and next possible lessons based on her vocabulary lessons. I think she understood them well, and I think she will be prepped for the next lessons in class. She did well in her presentation last week, so that was good news. She is doing well in this class."
"We covered basic grammar and how to handle a conversation in Spanish in a real estate scenario. The student understood how to use certain verbs in constructing sentences. The student always has a positive attitude. I explained to the student how to enunciate certain words in Spanish when it is necessary to convey a message. Overall, I would rate the session excellent."
"Today we reviewed the grammar of a play that the student has to present on Friday; that play is important because it represents the 20% of his grade. Then we did some exercises with the conjunctions of the subjunctive in present and we also used indicative in present and future. That activity was with some flashcards in which he chose two and then he created the sentences. I just corrected him on the endings of some conjugations and also explained him what tense to put first. After that he wrote the sentences. To finish the lesson we practiced with verbal exercises the possessive adjectives. His attitude was excellent; he has a good disposition to learn and practice his Spanish, and he has a lot of vocabulary. All the lesson was in Spanish and we used for the grammar topics his school book."
"In preparing for a test, we started reviewing the 3 chapters studied during the semester. The student is pretty good at retaining subjects and her pronunciation is improving. She needs more vocabulary so she can hold a conversation. We will continue to work on that."
