Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I went over multiples of 5, 10, and 15. Then we looked at patterns and worked on using those patterns to make sense of more complex multiplication problems. She is doing really well with this. She is making improvements and seems to be more confident with some of her basic multiplication skills. We also discussed the work she has done so far for her outline in English. We also worked through the vocabulary for the next chapter in her literature class and a writing assignment for her science class that discussed primates."
"I assisted the student with her math worksheet, which consisted of solving and identifying graphs of inequalities. I also assisted her with her vocabulary homework. She had to fill in the blanks of a narrative with her vocabulary words. She did a very good job during this session and is getting more comfortable with her math. On the whole, she did a great job."
"Today the student and I worked on studying for his upcoming Science quiz. The student is studying for a quiz involving the animal phyla Cnidaria and Porifera and we spent our session going over traits that belong to each as well as learning some tips to help him remember the more difficult names."
"Today the student finished source cards for a research paper. He finished his geometry homework assignment on probability. He made vocab flash cards and studied them a bit. He is completely done with his weekend homework!"
"The student had History, Literature and Math homework that she worked on. Her History literature involved reading an article about Archduke Franz Ferdinand's assassination and writing two short articles from the two sides. We read the article together, and I showed her how I would go about highlighting/noting important passages to help save time when she had to start writing and to also keep track of all the new information. Hopefully, those tips will help her for future readings. For her Math homework, we worked on range, domain, and what makes a function a function. She had a strong understanding of range and domain but can use additional practice on what makes a function a function. She understands and utilizes the vertical line test when she is presented with a graph, but has difficulty constructing the graphs from scratch."
"The student and I covered vocabulary that he is learning in school. We grouped together the cognates. To facilitate his remembering the terms and we broke down the different vocabulary in a way that he is able to remember it. The vocabulary was not simple terms, it was short phrases as well for conversational Spanish when discussing friends. We also worked on the 8 affirmative commands and practiced conjugating in the irregular form."
