"The student and I walked through a practice verbal question set and spent much of our time practicing reading strategy. I stressed a close attention to keywords-- whether grammatical road signs and words related to the subject. I also emphasized the importance of making a prediction before attacking question choices."
"The student and I reviewed tips and strategies for tackling long passages: robust note-taking, knowing what to read and not read, and general versus specific question approach. We practiced note-taking on three long passages; and practiced not (or barely) referring back to the passage for general questions. Lastly, the student took a diagnostic verbal exam to highlight any other particular areas for further work that we might have to address. Overall, the student and I are working primarily on facilitating comprehension of difficult passages, increasing processing, and note-taking speed. By increasing speed handling the passages, he will have more time to spend on the questions."
"The student and I worked on her verbal and analytical writing skills. She is excited to study and receptive to ideas for how to prepare for the test. We discussed the goals she has for her score, which are optimistic and also realistic. She knows she has a lot to study for when it comes to word memorization, and we are going to try a few strategies to see what will work best for her. We approached verbal questions strategically and she showed aptitude for strategic test taking. We discussed the types of essay questions and what they are looking for in good answers. We examined her study materials and determined that it will be important for her to get a word dictionary and practice test software."
