Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began by reviewing questions that the student had on the mean/median/mode problems. Then, we worked through several data analysis questions. Following these, we did inequalities/absolute values. I assigned all of these questions. I then worked through the general dynamics for reading and essay writing. I assigned 3 prompts to be outlined and 39 reading questions."
"The student and I went over the math section. We mainly focused on general concepts that should be intuitive for the test. He did well on the section, understanding the logic. Tonight we'll be focusing mainly on the essay section and a bit on the verbal."
"Today, we covered the analyze an Issue task first. She has a little bit of trouble brainstorming ideas in certain topic areas, but her grasp of the task is strong, and she can throw down examples from many categories. Next, we looked over verbal problems, discussing strategies and approaches to learning vocab before tackling the reading questions. Finally, we continued to review math problems she missed, reviewing strategy and content."
"Went over results of her practice test from the online site. Check her answers to the math section first, talking about plug-in technique, working with exponents, and number series. Next moved on to the verbal section and reading comprehension problems she didn't answer correctly. She scored a 152 Verbal and 151 Quantitative on the practice test."
"I really enjoyed meeting the student today; she and I talked about the format of the assessment and went through her preliminary practice test. We discussed how the questions are structured, and the types of questions she will be facing. We spent a larger portion of the time this evening on the quantitative section, and a smaller portion on the verbal. We will make her an information sheet of all the relevant geometric equations, and will continue to improve on algebra through practice. We discussed strategy, and practiced approaching them systematically. She is also planning on making vocabulary flashcards."
"The student is re-focusing his efforts on the GRE. We went through a few practice problems from his exam that troubled him, including a few geometry questions. We then reviewed the triangle concepts that he will need to know for the GRE. Afterwards, we went through several geometry questions from the GMAT Quant section. His geometry skills are definitely improving, and he is moving through the questions at a good pace. He is going to take another GRE practice examination before our next session."
