Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"He only had theology and Spanish homework. Since he's pretty conversational in Spanish he handled that no problem. The topic was article agreement with nouns I believe. For theology all he had to do was copy down definitions from his book. Spent the rest of the hour discussing his reading material for English class."
"We began with the student's homework over the surface area and volume of prisms, cylinders, cones, pyramids, and spheres. Afterwards, we began the study guide packet for his semester final, starting with a few concepts from before he and I began working together, and moving through proportions and similar triangles. Next time we will finish the packet and prepare his formula card for the final."
"The student and I spent the entire time working on reviewing for her English final. We went through her grammar packet entirely, and we covered section 7 and 1/2 of section 8 in her SAT vocabulary."
"The student and I had our final session today. We worked on writing and finished with a little extra reading and math. He is feeling much better about the PSAT than he did the last time he took it. It's been a pleasure working with him!"
"We reviewed material for her exam: - reactions that needed to be memorized(index cards were memorized) - synthesis problems were created and solved - final questions before the exam were addressed"
"The student and I covered solving mathematical problems using recursion (specifically greatest common divisor and multiplication), file input/ output, and the use of lists and their operations. She needed help with recursion. She maintained a positive attitude throughout the session and indicated a sincere desire to learn and understand the material. I discussed the common strategy behind recursion: take a big/ difficult problem and break it down into smaller and smaller pieces until it becomes trivial to solve. I suggested that she practice by using what we discussed to try and implement the division operation recursively. She really got it down after that."
