Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued to work on math as I noticed that the student needed help with problems related to graphing and reading charts. We reviewed the problems he had completed as homework, and I chose some new sample problems to try based on the areas that he had found difficult. He is taking the ACT this coming weekend and again in December."
"We began today's session by discussing various high schools and how the student will rank them on her answer sheet. Our test prep consisted primarily of logical reasoning problems. We worked specifically on code games and sequencing questions, as those were the ones she was getting incorrect on a practice test she took over the weekend. We also worked on a science based reading passage. Throughout the session we continually discussed strategies for maintaining focus as well as time management on test day. She has a strong sense of logical reasoning and mathematical ability, but needs to make sure she remains focused. We discussed the importance of her self-discipline during tomorrow's session and on test day."
" I started the tutoring session by talking about what we completed last time we met. Last time the student completed the math section of practice test #5 and scored a 560. Her biggest area of trouble was the open ended responses and misuse of time. I then had her complete the first writing section of practice test #5 of the SAT"s. She focused hard and finished the section in 17 minutes and 30 seconds, leaving 7 minutes and 30 seconds left if needed. She did not omit any answers, scored 9 incorrect, and 26 correct. Her biggest area of concern right now is sentence error. We will look more deeply into this area during session 3. Next, I had her complete section 10 of practice test #5. Again, she focused hard, crossed out answers she believed to be incorrect, and finished the section in 8 minutes 30 seconds, leaving 1 minute and 30 seconds. She scored 650 overall on the writing section. After completing the writing section, we walked through the answers that she omitted or got incorrect last session on the math section."
