Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We completed a long worksheet covering unit rates and budgets for varying expenses and number of people."
"The student and I worked on balancing algebraic equations and writing math equations as English questions. We will work on getting him to slow down when he is doing problems and to make sure he knows what the question is asking and that he knows the first step."
"We went over multiplication with two two-digit numbers, including a brief review of the importance of place value."
"We talked about finding normal and tangent lines, vectors, and planes to different isothermic curves and surfaces. She sometimes gets a little lost in proofs and I could tell it really helped to isolate certain steps and explain why things work like they do."
"We primarily discussed how to solve absolute value functions, using parent functions, shifts horizontal and vertical directions, stretches and shrinks, reflection, and worked on many problems related to the homework."
"The student and I went over his recent quiz. We went over a problem involving multiplying by a factor with degree -1, which actually means just dividing by that factor using long division. Then, we went over the stuff they'd learned today in class, namely various tricks and methods for finding the factors of a polynomial. There were two main methods, Descartes's Rule of Signs and Rational Zero Theorem. By using a combination of these methods, arithmetic, and common sense in varying amounts, the student found the factors of various functions. It was a good session."
