"The student has been doing very well with the trigonometry module in geometry. It comes very easy to him, and he has studied it a bit in ACT prep. I proctored both the multiple choice exam and the written exam. We then did the module seven activity together with the remaining 45 minutes. It used simple trigonometry to calculate the angle of depression and elevation of airplane landings and takeoffs. We finished module 7, and next week I am giving him a pre-cursor to module 8 before my trip."
"For this session, the student and I focused on practicing problems using the law of sines. He mentioned that for his last exam, the teacher didn't properly prepare the class for the test. We practiced several problems using the law of sines as well as learning the theory of solving the problems. He did very well using the concepts to solve different variations of triangles."
"The student has a quiz this week on finding area of regular polygons. He was also having trouble with simplifying radicals. We reviewed and did practice problems to prepare for his quiz, and also work on radicals. I showed and explained different methods for simplifying radicals and allowed him to choose the method that was easiest for him. He is confident heading into the quiz."
"We are continuing to review for the student's geometry exam. We reviewed the theorems of an altitude drawn in a right triangle, similar triangles and trigonometry. Then we began our review of past exams."
"Tonight the student worked on completing an online assignment based on relationships between quadrilaterals. After completing the assignment, we completed some supplementary review materials that I brought. Finally we checked his grades online and discussed some things for him to do in order to improve his grades."
"In the beginning we review SAS, AAS, ASA, and HL congruence theorems. Next we determined the congruence of triangles using appropriate theorem. When we were looking for the third corresponding elements in congruence, we reviewed alternate interior angles formed by parallel lines and transversal. We also reviewed vertical angles. We completed justifications in two columns prove. We also wrote corresponding congruent elements in congruent triangles and written a congruence statement. I introduced a perpendicular bisector of a segment and its property. We solved a problem where we calculated the length of the sided of a triangle given by its vertices. Finally, we worked on an advanced extra credit problem"
