Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did more practice on the calculation of integers, decimals and fractions by using "PEMDAS". The student sometimes got mixed up about the difference between multiplication and adding/ subtraction when deciding the signs of the final results. More work will help her on this."
"We reviewed what the student learned in math last week: deciding if a value is a solution to an equation, and solving equations involving addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Then she read from her novel, where she was more excited to read than usual and did very well."
"In this session the student and I worked on math, science, and English (paragraph structure). The student did his math homework which focused on fractions, percents, and decimals. He had a little trouble with reducing fractions and converting fractions to decimals but after some explanation he seemed to grasp the concept and was able to complete the rest on his own. At the end of our session he and I reviewed some paragraph structure, which he seemed to have a decent handle on."
"The student and I worked on various topics, including volume of rectangular prisms, multiplying and dividing fractions, word problems with basic algebra, fractions, decimals, and using a protractor to draw angles and angles in a triangle. I plan to set aside several worksheets for his upcoming assessment exam in two weeks and to continue reviewing the topics he has covered with me since we started. He did very well on multiplying with decimals, an issue that he had trouble with when we first started our sessions. He passed a few sheets of this topic with flying colors."
"We went over geometry topics such as angles, triangles, and quadrilaterals. The student did pretty well and understood everything. We went over a chapter review in her book and she did well remembering old materials. Overall, she should do fine on her upcoming geometry test."
"Student 1 and I went over her math homework that had to do with dot plots, bar graphs, and histograms as well as different kinds of data. We also went over her science project. With Student 2, we went over physics and did problems having to do with free-body diagrams and forces."
