Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered more solubility equilibrium today. She has a test tomorrow so she really wanted to get this down. She definitely has improved since our last session. She is more confident in herself and it shows because she knew exactly how to do every problem. We just went over a lot of problems together to make sure she was doing them right. I believe she will do very well on her test because she is very bright and she understands the material."
"Today we worked on Acid Base chemistry. We covered Bronsted Acid and Bases. We covered acid base equilibrium. We covered how to calculate H and OH concentrations and how it relates to pKa, pKb, and pH. It helps us understand H and OH concentrations, what this means for acidity and basicity, and how these concepts relate to the different way we classify acids and bases."
"We covered two chapters, Gravity and Torque. In gravity, we have covered the basic gravitational force formulas, the gravitational field, and the motion of stars and satellites in gravitational field. We also reviewed concepts. In chapter Torque, we defined torque, angular displacement, angular velocity, angular acceleration, moment of inertia (rotational inertia), and established parallels to expressions in one -dimensional linear motion. We did several exercises using torque formulas for static problems, as well as used angular momentum conservation for dynamic problems. Student is confident in his mastery of Physics 1."
"The student's assessment test is on Thursday, which needs to be at 70% completion to pass the class, so we spent this session covering several sections. We reviewed the more complicated Lewis dot structures and multi-step unit conversions. These topics will be emphasized tomorrow when we resume preparation for the final exam."
"In geometry we started talking about central angles, arcs, chords, and how they relate to one another. In biology, we talked about the different divisions of seedless vascular plants (ferns and club mosses)."
"The student and I met for a final time to prepare for her upcoming AP Biology final. We finished up the nervous system material, which covered sensory systems, motor systems, and behavior and learning. We were rushing to get through the material so we didn't have much time for comprehension checks, but in the little that we did the student seemed to pick up the material well. She continues to ask very good questions. She reports feeling okay about the upcoming final, but seems (understandably) a bit overwhelmed by the massive amount of information she was expected to cover on her own."
