Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed sequences and series in 12.1 and 12.2. We then discussed how he was going to plan his time to complete everything so he could study for this last exam and final, and his dynamic class. We're meeting next Monday, same time."
"I looked over the essay that the student had written over the past week. Then, we worked on practice critical reading and writing passages. We mostly focused on critical reading. She will complete a practice test before our next session."
"Today we focused on weakening and main point questions emphasizing the necessity of discerning the conclusion, premises and assumptions contained in the stimulus. On main point questions, we worked on comparing the language in the stimulus and the language within the most attractive answer choices so that he can learn to identify over and understatements. We worked on one strengthening question - a topic we will resume in earnest upon his return from vacation."
"We went over a sample SAT test that I gave the student, and worked through sample problems. I gave him some last minute advice for test day strategies and how to use this last week before the test to his full advantage."
"We worked on our key areas: basic paragraph construction, outlining, and rewriting key ideas in our own words. After working on a literature response last session, I decided to focus on a summary about Bonsai trees. The student read the passage, mapped it out the same way as before (main idea, and supporting details), and wrote his summary as homework."
