Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we continued with the student's final review. We covered finding the area of polygons given measurements that contain variables, simplifying expressions that have exponents, and graphing linear equations. I taught him the rules for multiplying and dividing exponents, and we did a few problems for practice."
"We worked on more graph identification problems and did some more complicated factoring to get through a mastery exam. He has a good start on Algebra I."
"We covered the diagnostic material for chapter one in this session. He did really well with all of the lessons except for lessons 1-4 and 1-7, which was mainly just vocab review. We went over the lessons for those sections and I gave him some practice problems to do before tomorrow's session."
"Today, we worked on combining like terms. The student took notes again on the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing positive and negative numbers. Then, we practiced several problems involving combining like terms with positive and negative coefficients as well as evaluating the resulting expressions, given a value for the variables. I gave him a worksheet to practice these problems again. Hopefully, he will be more confident next session! As always, his attitude was good."
"We covered volumes of simple solids including cylinders, cones, and spheres. We found the dimension of these solids, given the volume and other dimensions. We worked on finding dimensions, surface area, and volume of a solid, given a similar solid. Student is doing very well and is ready for new material."
"The student and I worked on algebra terms, factoring, exponents, and square roots. She did an amazing job today. She had created a detailed notebook with all of all her problems solved. It looked great."
