We discussed history--challenges and opportunities that early Western European immigrants encountered when they emigrated to the U.S. We also reviewed math homework word problems and continued to identify ways to make the text easier to understand."

"For this session, we reviewed material we had previously gone over. The student wanted to take a quiz on the topics we had covered. She did a great job, showing mastery of the skills with only minimal questions. We will continue to work on possessive nouns, past, present, and future tense, as well as other skills, as we move through our sessions."
"We read the student's trade book. We used context clues and illustrations to decode unknown vocabulary. We also used familiarity and background knowledge to comprehend the text. The student practiced sight word recognition."
"The student worked on her math homework which focused on multiplying and adding with decimals. She did well with the homework and only needed a little bit of guidance on some problems. We then moved on to her science homework where she had to fill in the blanks of some sentences. They were going over kingdoms, species, angiosperms, etc. She then moved on to her history homework and she read a section and answered questions. She also worked on her English homework which focused on main ideas and topic sentences. She did really well with that assignment. The assignment that took the longest was her book report. She hadn't finished the book yet, but had more things to include when discussing the book and hitting the 8 main points her teacher wants her to focus on. Once she finishes the book, she will be able to include conflict, plot, and other new words that she learned which she must include when presenting the book to the class."
"We covered paragraphs 5, 6, and 7 of Civil Disobedience. We had a strong discussion. This was an excellent session. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with this student."
