Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I found the interquartile range of a small dataset. We represented probability spaces using Venn diagrams. We defined statistical independence and related it to the Venn diagram. We calculated compound probabilities and discussed the applicability of binomial distribution."
"We worked with finding expected value, expected mean, and standard deviation for probability distributions. We also worked with finding specific probabilities within binomial distributions, as well as the definition of a binomial distribution."
"We covered analysis of a data set, including calculating number of observations, measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode), variance, and standard deviation using both manual and automated methods using Excel functions. She is doing well understanding the professor's teaching style and expectations. I encouraged her to make use of flashcards, study partners, and also trying to find a student who successfully completed the class. We did several realistic examples of dataset analysis such as analyzing a number of observations of blood pressure and birth weights."
"The client is working on his master's in public health and had work on linear regression. We started with the basics of correlation, so he'd understand the foundation of regression. Then we reviewed his homework in detail. We examined Stata output from a regression problem so that he'll be able to read the tables. We went over all of the components of the regression equation, and he answered multiple choice questions related to concepts for regression."
"First we quickly reviewed the worksheet that the student finished last time. Then he finished his second worksheet and we went over his previous quiz. This covered similar things to last time, including conditional probability and independence. He seems to be understanding the material pretty well now. He does still struggle a little with setting up a few of the problems. We will continue to work on that. He was attentive and focused the entire time!"
"The student was well-prepared again, and we were able to cover a lot. Mostly, it was the same material from Monday, but her test will be long. It was helpful to have all the review. We will meet again on Monday night."
