Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had two worksheets to complete. We spent the whole time working on these worksheets, as some of the questions were short answer/short essay. At the end of the session I quizzed her again on the vocabulary of the "house." I also talked to her about some of the cultural differences between a French house and an American house, which were related to some of the questions on the worksheet. We also looked up other French vocab words associated to the unit. For example, even though "RV" was not a vocab word, we looked it up and used it in various sentences."
"Today we covered the use of verbs like gustar, and we went back over the negative words like ningun, nadie, nada, tampoco, etc. The student is getting ready for a test that he is having in two days. He is going to keep practicing online before Wednesday."
"The student started by finishing her online homework. We then completed a review section that covered the grammatical concepts from this chapter. She needed help to put the grammatical concepts into practice, so we will keep doing practice exercises until she gets them. I had her do some extra practice exercises with saber vs. conocer, and she was getting the hang of it by the end of the session. We looked at her course calendar to see what assignments she has coming up over the next two weeks. This week she has in an in-class composition."
"The student worked on his homework and a project that is due on April the 28th. Everything went smoothly today as he appeared to be more engaged and focused on the work than he has in the past few days."
"The student has a Spanish quiz tomorrow, so we decided to focus on his new Spanish vocabulary and verbs. We did practice sentences where I had him translate sentences and conjugate verbs. I also quizzed him on all of his vocabulary more than once and had him go through each of his new verbs in the present, past, and imperfect tenses, plus the pronunciations."
"The student has an oral exam on Wednesday. We worked together on conversation: greetings, day of the week, time, weather, how to invite someone to a party, how to describe one's family members, how to describe a house, daily and leisure activities, past times and likes and dislikes. I also helped her with her pronunciation. She is receptive. She will work on her conversation skills and we will review that together next session. I am satisfied with her progress."
