Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed simple finals and initials and worked on the four tones of the Chinese language. We conducted a colloquial conversation review on giving a taxi driver directions and ordering in a restaurant. Before the student visits China, I suggested he listen to the audio tracks from our previous lessons and CDs for colloquial Chinese and practice ordering food and giving directions."
"First we reviewed the vocab from the previous session, then we learned how to say and write: congratulations on good fortune (happy new year), happiness, year of the goat and spring festival. Then I did some dictations, making sure she understood the meanings of the vocabulary. After that, we played the Chinese chess game again. She enjoyed playing it and understood it better and better."
"We covered more common sentence structures like because, therefore, all and again, and finished our study of comparatives, e.g. fast, faster, fastest. We also learned new vocabulary like mood, light, and sleep, and reviewed location, going outside, who, etc. I left the student with writing 4 sentences for homework."
