Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"One of the central topics that we focused our efforts on for this session was that of buffers. We discusses and analyzed a variety of buffered systems, reviewing principles of acid-base chemistry, logarithmic relationships, and graphical interpretation."
"Reviewed the results of her last practice exam, focusing on the science sections for the first half and then verbal for the second half. Her scores on science were the same as the last practice exam, but her verbal went down a couple points. She said that she was feeling stressed when she took the verbal section so after we went through the passages, which she seemed to comprehend well, we talked about how she could relax before the section."
"We looked over the student's last two practice test scores and discussed how she felt about the upcoming test. I reassured her that she was fully prepared."
"In preparation for her test the student and I reviewed practice test 5, physical sciences. Topics covered included radioactive decay, half-lives, coordination, oxidation-reduction, pH calculations, molarity calculations, the photoelectric effect, waves and wavelength, uniform circular motion, free radicals, Lensmaker's equation, visual correction of myopia, and pressure calculations. She has not been able to complete a complete practice exam with a score, however, she was also given a review sheet with a comprehensive set of physics and chemistry equations to know and review."
"She will take a practice full length tomorrow. We talked about what her schedule for full-length practice tests should be in the weeks before her test date, highlighting the importance of taking time to review the test and fill out the spreadsheet to look for patterns. We reviewed physiology and cell biology in depth: the kidney, the digestive system, DNA replication, and the endocrine system. She should try to review physical sciences as well."
"The student and I covered and completed organic chemistry topics that included separations and extractions and carbonyl chemistry from test prep materials. Overall, her performance was generally better than compared to our previous sessions. She was able to deduce the correct concept to apply to more difficult passage-based questions."
