Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered -er verbs using the workbook and the present tense of several verbs. I also taught the negative and used them in sentences. She was asked to complete the workbook exercise and study thoroughly all the verbs so far."
"I started by reviewing last week's homework and topics. The students completed their homework well. I gave them a short 3-question quiz, which both students performed well on. We continued learning numbers, now 20-100. The homework will give them plenty of practice so they can get more comfortable with that. In the last portion of the session, we began learning French greetings/conversational phrases."
"The student's homework was to write 3 poems using verbs we were working on. He put them on the board and we talked about them. Then I asked him to conjugate the seven verbs. He wrote each conjugation on the board and only made 3 errors. As a way of starting the next big topic, I talked a little bit about compose and imperfect tense. He has two homework assignments; write another story about friends visiting Paris, using the 7 target verbs, and watch a French movie."
"The student and I reviewed physical descriptions of people and things, the rules of adjectives. I had him translate sentences with descriptions of objects and then asked him questions orally on those descriptions of possession to work on comprehension and had him answer orally with the negative and positive of the questions. He got faster very quickly. Next week, he has a 200 word paper to describe an actor so we will work on that."
"The student and I went over a reading in his textbook. I also provided an article for extra understanding. We read the textbook pages together and reviewed the grammar concepts"
"Today was a fun day. We spent time playing games to broaden the student's range of vocabulary. The student is eager to learn, and his grammar level has progressed to advanced."
