Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Looked over grades from last semester, paying close attention to test scores compared to HW scores. Discussed strategies for improving test scores, including looking over information each day after school and creating test questions from material covered in class. Will continue to use these strategies and see how they impact her test scores. I also encouraged her to speak with her teachers about possibly coming in at lunch or after school to finish tests."
"We covered all of what was on the last test and worked out a few problems from every section. I am encouraging the student to think of the problems more conceptually, then memorizing formulas which will help her make sense of the problems and variables. We also covered a section from the next unit, and I have assigned her a little bit of homework for practice. She is one of the brightest students I've ever had and has great potential to excel in her math class."
"Worked with the student on studying for his Math final. Went over permutations, combinations, series/sequences, and how to calculate the slope of a line when it's tangent to a circle."
"Essay reviewed: edited some of her practice essays, outlined and discussed an argument and issue task, additional probability practice, vocabulary practice (working on making flashcards/quizzing vocabulary), assigned practice for the upcoming week to review next session."
"We reviewed for her test the next day. We started with a minute quiz (a quiz that has basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems that tests her speed, her accuracy, and her attention to signs). Then, I gave her a review packet that had eight least common multiple problems, fifteen simplifying fractions problems, eight greatest common factor problems, ten multiplying/dividing fraction problems, and six adding/subtracting fractions problems. I made sure that she was very comfortable with the material for her test."
