Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered point by point, all of the sections of the AP Calculus AB exam. Finally, I gave her a bunch of advice for the exam itself. It's been a pleasure working with her. She's been very positive and receptive of my tutoring."
"During this lesson we went over free response questions. We covered problems using graphs to solve different questions. We also finished a problem on area and volume of a region. He did very well with this problem."
"Today was not too difficult for the student. We did a review of two labs from first quarter marine biology which needed to be completed for him to take his last online marine biology final. The first lab was a crustacean presentation on the habitat and structure of a shrimp. The second lab was a PowerPoint on his observations of a lake near his house. He had to take pictures of the lake and take note of the vegetation and wildlife in the area. He also had to record any pollutants. I made the final his homework assignment for tonight."
"Today is our last session since the AP exam is tomorrow. For this session the student asked me to make a complete review of all the important points. So we went through limits, special limits, continuity, Intermediate Value Theorem (IVT), derivatives, basic derivatives, product rule, division rule , chain rule, implicit differentiation, linearization, L'Hopital's rule, maxima and minima, Mean Value Theorem (MVT), antiderivatives, integrals, indefinite and definite integrals, Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, MVT for integrals, integration by substitution, application of integrals, separable differential equation. I checked his understanding and he told me he understood everything. Overall the win from this session is that he had a overview of all needed for his AP Calculus AB exam tomorrow."
"Concepts covered with the student were analyzing, graphing, and solving quadratic equations. I also covered solving systems of equations - one linear and one quadratic. She was anxious to learn and grasped the concepts readily."
"We covered conversion between logarithmic and exponential form, evaluating logarithms, and simplifying and expanding logarithmic expressions. Since the student had only very recently been introduced to logarithms in class, he was confused at first about how the components in exponential form correspond to those in logarithmic form, but after trying a few problems, he was able to grasp the concept so that he wouldn't get stuck anymore. In terms of progress, he has been consistently performing well, and achieved a score of 105 on his last quiz."
