Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered chapter 6-8 for the student's midterm (parallelograms, similar triangles, etc.). We went over his midterm review problems. He was very comfortable with the material and definitely ready for the exam. I helped clarify some concepts for him relating to congruent/ similar triangles and proofs."
"The student completed her 8 question homework for the break, covering real world concepts involving circumference, area, and arc length for circles. We then worked on some extra credit Sudoku, giving her tips on how to think through the grid logically and methodically."
"We worked on some new concepts in geometry, such as facts of circles. We also did a little bit of algebra (FOIL method) and finished up with some probability work. The student did a great job."
"Today the student went through a worksheet concerning right triangle similarity. In some problems, he was asked to use similarity between two right triangles in order to compute unknown side lengths, while in others he was required to compute the geometric mean of two numbers. He understood how to work through most of the problems in his worksheet; he just needed me to spot his small mistakes and help motivate him to finish. Nice work this session!"
"The student and I discussed principles of probability. We defined event, outcome, and probability space. We found experimental probability from past events and calculated theoretical probability, assuming repeatable events. We then used outcome trees to find compound probabilities and reviewed properties of circles and triangles."
"We reviewed for the student's quiz on circle formulas and circle theorems. She needed help a little with completing the square so I gave her practice problems similar to those on her homework. We spoke about her upcoming test and agreed to do a practice test to help her get faster so she can check her work."
