Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We conducted the session on Gmail video/hangouts. We covered liquids (properties and definitions, relevant equations and calculations, heating curves, calorimetry mixture problems) and most of solids (the four types of solids with their bonding and different properties and examples of each). We did not get a chance to cover Bragg's law or cubic crystal structure calculations."
"We completed the chapters on solutions and equilibrium, including the practice problems at the end of the chapter. We went a little more slowly than normal, because the chapter on solutions is more complex material than before. We made plans to meet again next Wednesday."
"The majority of this session was dedicated to the student's next draft of her semester-long project. She has done well on the previous drafts and has already completed many of the hardest steps, such as picking a previously-unstudied research question, as well as designing original experiments to answer said question. We spent some time discussing appropriate experimental techniques and how to design positive and negative controls. We also did a literature review together to look for specific mutant fly lines. Overall, she is doing a wonderful job with this paper."
